NASTY NELSON DIRTY PICKLE
I posted the above parody poster of Dirty Harry on the Bite Size Pickleball Facebook group last week and, boy, did it get a lot of chatter and over 10,000 views and bunches of comments. Check it out here if you want to explore what people are thinking about the Nasty Nelson. For those of you who have no ideas what a NN is, it’s when the server hits their opponent on the serve, point awarded to the server.
My advice: DO NOT try this at home. I haven’t tried one in a couple of years because the last time I tried it, I was trying to hit a friend, who was goofing off, and turning his back to me while I was serving, in the butt, and I ended up wailing him in the head. It took a few months for us to patch up our friendship. It’s no longer worth it to me to even attempt one.

UPDATE ON RICK’S CREATIVE PURSUITS
I will find out this weekend if the basketball show I developed, Hardcourt Heirs, with Sixers GM Elton Brand is going to fly. I have been getting a lot of “Let’s Go!’s” from Elton in text, but he is busy AF trying to figure out who the Sixers are going to take with the third pick in the NBA draft and I haven’t spoken to him on the phone in a few weeks. That is supposed to happen this weekend. I feel good about it, yet he needs to find some time to do his part of the show, which is to reach out to the former NBA players we want to cast and see if they are even interested, and available, in being in the show. Until that happens, I can’t do jack.
What I can do is continue to create in the pickleball space until the basketball show consumes me. I just got an email from Hannah Johns today who is interested in my writing for Pickleball.com. Haven’t checked it out yet? It’s pretty cool. Basically, it’s like ESPN.com for pickleball enthusiasts.
Yes, Hannah’s brother is the GOAT Ben Johns, and her other brother has the finest reset in the game, and formerly played a damn fine bass guitar when his brother was rocking out on the court. Of course, that job has now been handed over to Gabe Tardio. Time will tell how well Gabe plays that funky bass.
Lastly, remember to check out my latest book Pickleball Riffs available at Amazon now. Keep it on the back burner as a gift idea should any of your pickleball friends have a birthday coming up. Order now in time for Father’s Day.
